Dr Fawzi is a consultant psychiatrist and lead clinician working in the NHS in East London. He has worked with adults with complex mental and physical health problems for 20 years.
Dr Fawzi graduated from Cairo University in 1995 (honours) and was awarded a UN scholarship to study for a diploma in Geriatrics and Gerontology at the International Institute on Ageing Geriatrics, which he obtained in 1998 (Magna Cum Laude). He trained in psychiatry in Egypt at the Behman Hospital and Cairo University. His research for his MSc degree in psychiatry and neurology at Cairo University was on the bereavement process, which follows physical disability.
Dr Fawzi moved to London to train in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital, Institute of Psychiatry in 2003. He was elected to the membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2006 and was awarded his Medical Doctorate (MD) in 2009 for his research on adherence to antidepressants. Following that, he completed his specialist training in 2010 and started work as a consultant in the NHS in the City and Hackney, East London NHS Foundation Trust.
