Hend Badawy is a qualified play therapist accredited by the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT), with over ten-year experience in working with children, adolescents, and adults.
Hend is experienced in working with children from the age of 3. She is also comfortable working with adults who need a client centred therapeutic approach mingled with creative mediums, at the client’s pace.
Hend holds a Master’s degree in Play Therapy from Roehampton University, London; the most distinguished and long-standing BAPT accredited master’s programs in the UK. Prior to her play therapy training, Hend completed her Bachelor’s degree in medicine and Master’s in neuropsychiatry in Egypt.
With children and adolescents, Hend uses child-centred play therapy approaches, integrating other therapeutic techniques as needed. Through toys, pretend play, stories, art, sand play, sensory play and endless ways of creative approaches, play therapy helps children express their feelings using a familiar medium with which they can process their stress. The aim is to help the child processes their struggle and feels empowered.
In working with the child and their family, Hend first assesses the needs of the child, then determines the best course of therapeutic treatment. Hend finds it crucial to work with all the key persons in the child’s life, including family members, school teachers and any other professionals. She believes that each child and family are unique, a bespoke tailored plan is agreed on between the therapist and family.
As part of the process, Hend conducts follow-up meetings with the parent(s) where she talks through how they can support the therapeutic process at home, meetings will also work on strength parent-child relationship.
As for adults, therapy might include sand play therapy, art therapy, and wide range of diverse imaginative experiences agreed ahead. By using the client-centred therapeutic approach, the client is the one who chooses whether to use these mediums or not and how and when mediums can help them to process their thoughts and struggles.
She ensures warm, contained, empathic, and safe space for all her clients to feel accepted and to process their feelings and thoughts under a highly confidential umbrella.
Hend has experience dealing with a wide range of problems, these include:
