Dr Nayrouz is a consultant psychiatrist with over 24 years of experience in general adult psychiatry and particular expertise in the areas of bipolar and depressive disorders as well as Adult ADHD.
Dr Nayrouz has been a Consultant Psychiatrist at West London NHS Trust since 2005 and Director of Clinical Studies since 2014. He has been an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial Medical School since 2005 (awarded the Imperial School Teaching Excellence Award in 2011 and 2018), as well as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at AUC Medical School in the US, granted in 2012. Dr Nayrouz held various previous roles at West London Trust where he was deputy then Senior Clinical Lead for 3 years, Physical Healthcare Lead for 4 years and the Affective Disorders Lead for over 3 years.
Besides working in a Crisis Assessment & Treatment Team, Dr Nayrouz is also the consultant Lead of the Single Point of Access Service, which was nominated for the prestigious National ‘HSJ British Healthcare Award 2016’ and for the ‘West London Trust Quality Award 2016’.
Dr Nayrouz has been an examiner at Imperial Medical School since 2004 and previously at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is on the GMC specialist register, approved under Section 12 of the MHA and a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Dr Nayrouz completed postgraduate training at St Mary’s & Charing Cross Psychiatric Training Scheme in London.
Dr Nayrouz has gained wide recognition as an expert in bipolar & depressive disorders at local and national level. He was a member of a panel of national & European bipolar experts who produced the International Consensus Definition of Treatment-Resistant Bipolar Depression in January 2019 and a member of a UK experts forum in treatment-resistant depression.
As Affective Disorders Lead for over 3 years, Dr Nayrouz collaborated with a number of world leaders in bipolar disorder to integrate latest evidence-based interventions in developing the Bipolar Disorder Care Pathway at West London Trust. Additionally, he ran a Specialist Mood Disorders Clinic in Ealing for 7 years, diagnosing and treating patients with bipolar and depressive disorders and offering second opinions on complex and treatment-resistent cases. Patients’ feedback on his care from the ‘Royal College of Psychiatrists 360 feedback’ ranked him in the top 10% of participating UK psychiatrists. This makes Dr Nayrouz a specialized expert in working with bipolar and depressive disorders.
Dr Nayrouz has been the Adult ADHD Lead in Ealing since 2013, where he founded the first local Specialist Adult ADHD Service. Dr Nayrouz has had responsibility for the assessment and treatment of all adults referred to Ealing Mental Health Service, requesting assessment for suspected ADHD diagnosis or requesting further specialist treatment for an established ADHD diagnosis. Dr Nayrouz is one of the few psychiatrists in the UK who work with adult ADHD.
Additionally, Dr Nayrouz has a special interest in mental injury, particularly Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and provides assessments for the UK Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) for victims of violence.
He also has a wide experience in Medico-legal work and acted as an expert witness since 2013, producing medico-legal and expert witness reports and giving expert evidence in Courts.
His other fields of work and areas of expertise include Anxiety & Phobic Disorders, OCD, Schizophrenia and Adjustment Disorder.
